Review Requests

from Jon of Lower Hutt:
When are u going to review no code, or blur, or lots of other things - stone temple pilots, pink floyd, nirvana... the list goes on, u've got work to do.

from Jeff:
Hey,
Came across your site while searching for some Roxy Music reviews to send a friend. Thanks for some very good reviews, keep on searching. Gonna try that Big Star album and a few others.
Based on your taste I infer from your reviews, here are some releases you may enjoy much:
1. Kevin Salem - Ecstatic -- he is the former guitarist for Dumptruck, Yo La Tengo and Freedy Johnston; reached a great peak with his 3rd album.
2. Lloyd Cole - "Lloyd Cole" (or try the more recent Lloyd Cole and the Negatives")
3. Sugar - the initial release from Bob Mould.
4. Matthew Sweet - Kimi Ga Suki -- recent Japan only release I picked up in Tokyo -- recorded with most of the Girlfriend band in less than two weeks.
Regards
Jeff

from ABC:
Have you listened to Donovan (Leitch)? Esp. his folk stuff.
Also, check out Morrison's Veedon Fleece, if you haven't already. Another album, which I feel is greatly overlooked, is Common One. Highlight: Summertime in England; one of the best songs every written, in my opinion.

from Jack:
I wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading your highly entertaining and thoughtful reviews. Keep up the good work! Some minor criticism: some very influential or important acts from the 1970s are either seriously underrepresented or entirely missing. Examples: David Bowie, Rush, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan, Little Feat, Kansas, Supertramp, Emerson Lake & Palmer. I also miss seeing reviews for other next-generation acts like The Cure, Metallica and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Superb newer acts like Tool, The Dave Matthews Band, and The Music are also sorely missed. (Even venturing back into the 1960s, reviews of seminal bands like Cream and The Doors would be welcome.) Finally, on a side note, given your interest in Christian-inspired music, I think you might really enjoy King's X (a fairly original and decently good late-1980s-on secular rock band made up of Christians from Houston, Texas).

from Brena:
Sonic Youth's album Daydream Nation is awesome. This album and their previous album Sister are without a doubt the 2 best Sonic Youth albums ever. My favorite songs on this second SY masterpiece are: 'Total Trash', and Kim Gordons awesome 'The Sprawl'. An emphatic 5 stars rating. Also check out Sister. 5 stars.
from George:
Daydream Nation is a Masterpiece, 5 STARS. Also, the SY album that came out before it, 1987's Sister, are their best albums. Standout tracks are the awesome "Total Trash". and the KILLER "The Sprawl". An absolute must have album. Further SY albums must haves: Sister 5 Stars. Dirty 5 stars. Murray Street 4 Stars. Experemental Jet set, trash and no star 4 stars.

from Kristen:
Your reviews are rather addicting. You seem to review and convey thoughts about certain songs the same way I would. I think I was only a bit dissapointed to not find a review on the band Travis. It seemed like the kind of band you'd review. I like Travis, but of course I find others better. Would you consider reviewing some of their albums?

from Jeremy of Petone:
Are you going to review any new zealand music?
would you please consider reviewing the shihad albums and the pacifier one. get them off jeremy.
word up.

from Iain of Karori:
Can you really claim [the site is balanced] given that jazz is so thinly represented?

Tonight, I've been reading your reviews and I've really enjoyed them! You have a very clear writing style, and a way of mentioning just the right number of songs in a review to make them informative without being choppy. I don't agree with the moral stance on rock music, but you're absolutely entitled to your views. Oh, and thank you for the nice words in your links section.

from Rob Eustace
Nice site Graham, soaking up the reviews at fairly rapid rate and like your style. I gave up reading faceless and slanted "Music Press Reviews" years ago and the best part of my collection nowadays has been based around the contents of WRC sites such as yours. Keep up the good work.

from Walter Nervik
pretty cool website overall. I think you underrated the notorious byrd brothers, for the roses, and five leaves left.

How about reviewing the best album from a female artist ever. DUSTY IN MEMPHIS. comparable to pet sounds.

Random Album Pick: Fairport Convention - Liege & Lief

Delving deeper into the traditional vein that bought 'A Sailor's Life' on the previous record, Hutchings ransacked archives of obscure folk songs to unearth suitable material for the group to use.
